What electricity company can I save the most money each month?
I live in Texas and my electricity bill is going through the roof. I need to find a lower price energy company to sign up if at all possible.
Please help me. A Texan in need.
admin answers:
Your are lucky to live in Texas because I live in Florida and here you don’t have any other choice, it’s only one electric company, they charge whatever they feel like it and we have to pay, but I can’t tell you cuz I don’t know in Texas, good luck..?

Donna asks…
Can someone explain to me how driving a battery operated car will save energy?
Or how it will save me money. I will use more electricity, the power company will use more coal, but we’ll be saving gas. Just how much electricity does it take to plug in a car all night. How many hours to charge the battery?
admin answers:
The overall cost of the energy is less, at least to the consumer. Technically i’m sure that more energy is lost sending that electricity for hundreds of miles through the power lines than a gas motor produces to move the same weight. The cost per mile is much, much, less though for energy from the grid (supposedly).

What is a new technology that can help businesses save money by reducing energy use?
What is a new technology that can help businesses save money by reducing energy use? Specificaly in a company like Fidelity, AutoDesk, Margarittas Resturaunt or Cool Air Clean Planet?
admin answers:
There are now so many devices available for reducing energy use. Among others:
1) use CFLs or compact floursescent lamps instead of the bar or circular flourescent lamps
2) install solar water heaters on the roofdeck and put in piping into your toilets and shower rooms
3) install solar cells for electricity use, either partially or complete replacement together with battery banks. You will need a separate, well-ventilated room for the batteries.
4) remove the curtains and put in outside the windows wooden or hard plastic jalousies to shield the rooms from direct sunlight but admit enough sunlight to switch off the lights.
5) sectionalize the electric wiring for the lighting such that you can switch off a portion of the lamps for the areas without people working.
6) instead of centralized airconditioning, put in window-type or stand-alone air con units. Again for those areas without people working, you can switch off the individual air con units.
7) where possible, use ceiling electric fans instead of aircon units. Or, use the combination of the two – - – fans at the start of the office hours. Later, when there are enough people in the room, switch on the aircons and switch off the fans.

George asks…
can turning off lights for earth save energy?
Last year, on 31 March 2007, 2.2 million people and 2100 Sydney (Australia) businesses turned off their lights for one hour ? Earth Hour. This massive collective effort reduced Sydney?s energy consumption by 10.2% for one hour, which is the equivalent effect of taking 48,616 cars off the road for a year.
i mean i understand the concept, but energy from power companies has to be a constant flow, used or not. so even if everyone turns off lights, energy is still constantly flowing and constantly wasted. this makes no sense to me.
admin answers:
It isn’t exactly rocket science, but it is just as complicated. Electricity is constantly being used. Some is even still going through cords even though the appliances are off. I got this from a website somewhere on ways to go green;
Unplug your power. Ten percent of the electricity used in your home is burned by communication devices and appliances when they are turned off! If every U.S. Household just unplugged their computers and cell phone chargers when they were not being used, collectively we’d save over $100 million — enough to provide free health care to every low-income child under the age of five in the state of California.

Cheap Electricity – How To Get Cheap Electricity From Your Energy Company?
Is there any way to get cheap electricity from your utility company? Sort of like customized billing tariffs based on your consumption profile? I’m both curious and serious about the options, specially if there are little-known ways to save money on my electricity bill.
admin answers:
Energy companies don’t have the manpower or resources to customize your electricity bill based on your usage pattern. Of course, you do pay-as-you-use so there’s cheap electricty if you use less (You could even use alternative sources like solar electricity to power some of your electric needs, and reduce bills further).
Alternatively, if you’re willing to experiment, here’s something I found out that’s both interesting and marvelous. Not sure if it’ll work for you, but if it does, I’m sure it will get you some significant savings on your monthly electric bill. Check it out!

If something as simple as white roofs can save energy and money, why haven’t companies been producing them?
You’d think their value would put traditional black tiles out of the market. Are we Americans just this stagnant, and un-innovative?
admin answers:
That would only really be useful where its very hot at night. A darker roof absorbs more heat and helps keep the heat in better at night. It’s a bit of an oxymoron for most of the worlds climate. It has a very limited use. Better to plaster you roof with solar panels. ![]()
