Why did Pickens give up his Windmill farm? Is wind energy not viable economically?

He killed the project 2 years ago and blames the power companies for not supplying him with the transmission lines. He figured out it was not viable.

T. Boone did lose his azz on that venture. No worries. He’s got plenty more where that came from.

why do they keep pigeons near the windmills in farms?

i always wanted to that, why do people keep pigeons near the windmills in the farms?

Actually, they’re more like a pest. People don’t want them there. They eat grains and crops, and gather in large groups. They flock there because of the grains and crops nearby.

Which is the best location to set up windmill farm in Tamilnadu, India?

Particularly in Erode and Coimbatore districts?

admin answers:

Try google/bhuvan maps.. Search with the option.. Altitude contours. Yopu get areas of high height from sea level.. > Make your farm there.. Because wind will be most there. AMd also the supply cost.. I.e. The transition loss be counted in between the manufacture and user points…places. The more the distance, the higher is the transmissin loss… Consider it. You got to feed (join) your electricity to the nearest govt. Or pvt. Supplier’s line.

Lisa Your Questions About Windmill Farms

Lisa asks…

A small isolated farm uses a windmill and a gas generator?

A small isolated farm uses a windmill and a gas generator tor power. During a 10 day period, they produced 3010kW/h of power, with the windmill operating at 45% of capacity and the generator at capacity. During the following 10 day period, they produced 2900kW/h with the windmill at 72% of capacity and the generator down 60 hours for repair (at capacity otherwise). what is the capacity (in kW) of each?
yes, I meant 3010 kW-h. Thanks.

admin answers:

Thee is no such thing as “kW/h”. Do you mean 3010 kW-h, which is a unit of energy, not power?
60 hours / 10 days = 60 hours/240 hours = 1/4 = 0.25

3010 kW-h x 1 day/24 hr / 10d = 12.54 kW over 10 days
2900 kW-h x 1 day/24 hr / 10d = 12.08 kW over 10 days

0.45W + G = 12.54 kW
0.72W + 0.25G = 12.08 kW

45W + 100G = 1254
72W + 25G = 1208
–288W – 100G = –4832
243W = 3578
W = 14.72 kW

72(14.72) + 25G = 1208
25G = 147
G = 5.91 kW

but chck the arith.

John Your Questions About Windmill Farms

John asks…

What does it cost to install a windmill on a farm in Ireland?

What are the height restrictions? how much power does a windmill generate? can the spare electricity be sold to the ESB? what price would i get? how long would it take for the price of it take to

admin answers:

I doubt that any substantial amount of energy could be generated from installing windmills on just one farm. For generating electricity, a series of windmills are usually spread over several kilometers of land that receives constant heavy winds.

If you instal 1 to 5 windmills you’d have barely enough electricity for one household, ESB wouldn’t buy electricity off you unless you were providing a reasonably big amount of electricity which could only be generated by over 100 w.mills.

The costs involved are way too high for it to be a viable option, first the cost of erecting metal windmills, then the turbine connected to the windmill that generates electricity, stabilizing, distribution and storage equipment plus maintenance will make it very very expensive.

Anybody on the Internet or elsewhere who claims that they can get a windmill to generate electricity with little investment is nothing but a scam. Come to think of it, wouldn’t the government just get rid of ESB (it is not a profitable venture for them anyway) and install a windmill in everyone’s backyard from which they can get free electricity without any pollution.

The reason wind energy has not been very successful in most parts of the world is that its too expensive, the only benefit being its pollution free.

William Your Questions About Windmill Farms

William asks…

What is the symbol of the windmill in Animal Farm? ?

What does it represent at various stages in the novel.
Any suggestions for a thesis because I can’t seem to produce a good one.

admin answers:

Windmill: The Windmill stands for the Russian industry, that has been built by the working-class.

When Napoleon steals Snowball’s idea for a windmill, the windmill can be considered a symbol of the Soviet Five-Year Plans, a concept developed by Trotsky and adopted by Stalin, who, after banning Trotsky from the Soviet Union, claimed them to be his idea. The failure of the windmill to generate the expected creature comforts and subsequent search for saboteurs is probably a reference to accusations and a show trial against British engineers who were working on electrification projects in the USSR.
