Nancy Your Questions About Save Energy Company

Nancy asks…

bullied constantly to save energy, yet traffic lights blaze away all night when there is no traffic?

i am sick to death of adverts saying ingredients are ‘locally sourced’ things are ‘free range’ products from ‘renewable sources’ do these companies think we are stupid, i don’t give a shit where my stuff comes from! anyone else feel the same?

admin answers:

I hope you also don’t care when they raise your electric rates, garbage rates, waste water rates, property taxes, income taxes, sales tax, gas tax etc. Even if you think global warming is a crock, pollution isn’t and we spend billions of dollars trying to keep our air, water and soil clean enough to support human life. Our food sources are getting sicker and have fewer nutrients in an attempt to produce more.

BTW in my state all the traffic lights have been changed to LED, they use about 1/10 the energy of the old bulbs.

It’s the media who has convinced us that the world is our shopping cart and that disposable is better than reusable. Main stream companies don’t want you to care, they make more profits the more cheap toxin ridden crap we buy from China. I put a link to an interesting video, I hope you will waste some energy and take a look.

Chris Your Questions About Save Energy Company

Chris asks…

I’m searching for a company that makes soundproof, energy saving, tinted windows?

admin answers:

Laminated glass is the best at suppressing sound waves. There are also different tints that can be used in laminated glass but you will have a difficult time finding this as a standard offering from any window company. Look into companies that offer custom capabilities and be prepared to take a hit in your pocketbook. It is very expensive.

John Your Questions About Save Energy Company

John asks…

Can you recommend a company, foundation or an NGO who does energy consulting?

Our company is looking for a consulting firm which can help us lower down our energy consumption. They will have to start by doing an energy audit, – how much our consumption is, how much electricity each equipment consumes etc before they can suggest how we can save up on electricity.

William Your Questions About Save Energy Company

William asks…

Can i just Spray Paint my Roof White to save energy?

I am doing an energy audit for a company and i want to try to save money by installing a white roof. The store bought specialized coating is WAY to expensive for this company‘s budget. Im wondering, why not just spray paint the roof white? The roof is flat and no one will ever see it, and it is covered in rock gravel that is brown. I also want to try to screw in some white plastic panels, made of the same material as political signs in people yards. I would use self sealing screws and caulking glue to isolate the bottom of the panel to prevent mold. Any foreseeable problems with that?

admin answers:

Absolutely do not run screws into a flat roof. I don’t care if you use self-sealing screws, you’ll have hundreds of leaks all over the roof. Flat roofs hold water and slowly get rid of it, and water always will find a way in if there is a screw through it.

A flat roof with rock on it is either tar or rubber roof, and either way, you’ll only ruin the roof by screwing things to it. The roof would have to be replaced then.

Susan Your Questions About Save Energy Company

Susan asks…

Why do electric companies promote energy conservation?

My electric company runs advertisements promoting energy conservation, as well as ubiquitous inserts on energy saving in every monthly bill. For example, they urge consumers to use compact fluorescent light bulbs, turn down the thermostat, etc.

This is NOT an energy co-op, it’s a for-profit corporation. And my former electric company in a different state behaved similarly, so I know it’s not an isolated case.

Why do they do this? Isn’t it against their own self-interest… like a grocery store urging people to eat less?

Thanks!

admin answers:

From the perspective of an energy supplier, they will incur much higher costs if people do not curb their energy usage and reduce demand. Conservation is much cheaper than building new energy producing infrastructure capacitiy especially if it entails coal-fired plants which create tremendous amount of pollution.

The cost to the consumers to reduce energy usage is mostly minor –timers, and other power regulation tools and some behaviour changes to be more conscious of what we waste.

The other realization energy companies are finding that maximizing profits can lead to degredation of other parts of our social system. So increasing air pollution, hurting residents in poor communities that cannot prevent impact from bad energy generation practices and generally wasting a limited natural resouces come back to haunt the corporation in the end.
