Susan asks…
Does anyone know how fast a windmill palm grows a year.?
To my understanding they grow slowly, but how slow? Also what is their eventual height? I live in SC,so how fast would it grow there?
admin answers:
They have a moderate growth rate. They will grow to about 30 feet in height. They will take ten years to get to that height. In your plant hardiness zone it would take maybe 15 years to get to the 30 foot height. Below is a link to help you.

Donna asks…
where can i buy a windmill palm-(trachycarpus fortunei), I been searching everywhere?
i have been searching and searching for this type of plant everywhere hoping to start down the exciting path of having palm trees is places where they don’t belong (SO EXCITED) any help would be AMAZING!!
admin answers:
Well, all i can say is, you could look in plant nurseries, or go on the internet, look up buying windmill palms or windmill palm seeds, and buy it off the internet, if you like buying on internet. I don’t have the problem for looking for palm plants where i live, and i live in washington state! We have safeway and fred meyers near us with plants that sometimes have palms, but my family also know routs to these plant nurseries (lots of rhododendrons), i guess its more informative if you live near nurseries or plant shops (or boutique-like olde shops that sells interesting things, love those shops!) you could order with them i think.
Hope that helped, may God be with you, and that you may wake up to the coming New World Order, please look it up, and Jesus Christ be with you!

Jenny asks…
How to protect Windmill Palms in Frisco, TX for the winter?
We have 3 new windmill palm trees in our backyard. They are 3 months old and stand approximately 5 feet tall. I want to know how to protect them this winter: wrap the trunk, cover the top of the tree, unwrap the trunk, uncover the top, continue watering them, etc. and at what temperatures?
admin answers:
Frisco – Texas is situated in USDA Zone 7b, the maximum limit cold hardiness of your windmill palm, the resist until 5°F or -14°C. If this winter are more harder than last years, probably it damage your young palm. So, your palm is young and small, so, you can put a plastic when the temperature reach 0°C (32°F) or below to protect of the winter and freezes and don’t put water in your palm during the cold days.

Lizzie asks…
can i put my windmill palm outside yet?
the days r around 9 degrees and the nights r around 3 to 0 degrees. The plant has been grown outside all its life in vancouver but has spent around 6 months inside is this too much shock for the plant to be put outside?
admin answers:
They’re supposed to be hardy down to about 10 degrees. 0 degrees may be pushing it. I would wait until it’s consistently over 10 degrees all night. Also, when you do put it outside, don’t put it in the direct sunlight at first. Even something like a cactus will get sunburned if it was not in direct sunlight for a while and it was suddenly put into direct sunlight (even if it’s through a window). Set it somewhere it gets indirect (reflecting off a wall, for example) or filtered sunlight at first, and gradually get it used to full sun over a couple of weeks.

Carol asks…
Would a windmill palm survive in salt lake city?
admin answers:
Depends on your specific microclimate. Salt Lake City temperatures rarely fall below 0′ F; but, that would kill a windmill palm. Here are your extreme monthly minimum temperatures from the second link below: °F -22 -30 2 14 25 35 40 37 27 16 -14 -21. Read these numbers as January through December). Doesn’t look like a good bet to invest in a tree hardy only to +5′ F!
