help with math trig equations please!?
the fans on a windmill rotate at a constant speed. P is the point at the end of the fan blade. The height, h m, of P above ground at time t seconds is given by the equation : h= 24 + 15sint , t measured in radians.
a) how long does it take point P to move from the top to the bottom of the arc?
2) what proportion of a cycle is the point P above 30 metres,
please explain as fully as you can, this is really confusing to me!
thanks
admin answers:
1)
max height is at sint = 1, therefore max height is at 39m above ground.
Therefore t = sin^-1 (1)
t = pi / 2 seconds.
Min height is at sint = -1 (9 m above ground).
Therfore t = sin^-1 (-1)
t = 3pi / 2 seconds.
Therefore it takes 3pi/2 – pi/2 seconds
= pi seconds (or 3.14 seconds to 2 dp).
2) when 15sint = 6 , P is above 30m.
Therefore sint = (6/15)
therefore t = 0.415
the next time sint = (6/15) is at t = 2.73
therefore P is above 30m for 2.73 – 0.415 seconds
= 2.315 seconds.
One cycle is 2pi seconds as it is a sin graph.
Therefore P is above 30m for (2.315/2pi) x 100
= 36.84% of a cycle.
Hope I helped.

Computer crashed and won’t reboot correctly.?
Ok. So I have done everything in my power to fix this but nothing works and no one has been helpful so far. My computer started crashing unexpectedly so I began cleanup utilities. The usual AVG virus scan, old file compression and defragmentation. While in the middle of file compression it crashed again. When it tried to run checkdisk it got to the third stage and crashed. Now it is in an endless restart cycle. Here is what my PC is: 80gig HD, 2.9 ghz processor, Nvidia Geforce Video card, and runs windows XP. Here is what happens: As computer turns on a new screen appears I have never seen of windmills and a logo saying BIOSTAR on a green hill. After this a page loads that apologizes for inconvenience and offers to start in safe modes, last known good configuration or start normally. I have tried them all and every one of them fails, a blue screen appears with an error message but it flashes by so quickly i can’t read it. I turned the computer off for 30 minutes and it loaded all the way, only to crash as soon as I clicked the start menu. After it crashed it went through the same cycle again. Once again after a long while it starts but crashes. Anyone got ANY ideas for me?
admin answers:
A very nasty virus indeed.
AVG wont do, try the free Avira or Avast.anti virus
for now go into safe mode and run a quick scan with Malwarebytes
Superantispyware and Iobit Security 360.
If these dont fix it then re install XP

Canada’s Oil Sands: why is America bashing our ally’s energy, which we will need one day?
Here’s some info from a Canadian newspaper. Many say Canada is essential to our energy independence and future, but why does our government look like its phasing out oil sands, when refineries in the south/mid-west are planning to take major streams from canada’s heavy oil – and major pipelines are being built for this reason?
The official provincial Athabasca river-water license is for only 1.8 per cent of the river’s annual flow and the oilsands industry has never used even one per cent, and (b) counting both river water and underground water (much of which is saline and not potable), the oilsands industry captures and recycles more than 90 per cent of the water it uses. It takes ~ 1800 bbls of potable water to make one barrel of ethanol. Based on the typical Canadian oilsands crude oil blend, the full-cycle emissions from using oilsands oil are, to be sure, more than conventional oil but still fairly close to the full-cycle emissions from other conventional oil brands: 15 per cent more than Edmonton par, only nine per cent more than Saudi Arabia, eight per cent more than Mexico, six per cent more than Nigeria, but three per cent less than Venezuela. The three Alberta oilsands and heavy-oil areas comprise 36 million acres, of which the ERCB rates only 7.5 million acres as “developable” at today’s prices and with today’s technology. Of this amount, only 832,000 acres can be mined and only 131,000 acres are being mined today, which is less than the area of Calgary. These areas will be reclaimed; the same can’t be said about cities. There are 42,000 bird deaths a year are caused by windmills in North America, about 800 birds per week. Oil has been seeping into the Athabasca River for thousands of years, due to the minable oil sands being so close to the surface.
admin answers:
I see nothing in your post that supports the notion that the US is “bashing” Canada’s oil sands as an energy source. At least I think that’s what you’re trying to say; your “question” isn’t really very clear.
Contrary to what appears to be popular belief, most of America’s foreign oil comes not from some Middle Eastern country, but from Canada, and much of that comes from oil sands. That may change if oil prices do not go back up soon, since oil sands are more expensive to refine than liquid crude. But for now Canada will continue to be a major exporter of oil to the US, and oil sands will continue to be a big part of that.

global warming? does anybody have the common knowledge to see that global warming is natural?
Do you suppose that man made Global Warming? Well, you shouldn’t!
Why?
You don’t have to encompass an elevated thinking ability to see through the propaganda. Here’s how to figure out the truth for yourself:
1. Have you looked at your personal outside thermometer? Records are low and snow storms thrive.
2. Seventh grade physics show that CO2′s molecular mass makes it exceedingly heavy, thus fore; it can’t lift high enough to cause the greenhouse effect.
Yes, there is a greenhouse effect, except it’s mostly caused by water vapor! H2O is, to a great extent, lighter than CO2.
3. University freshman statistics will show you that the miscalculation rate in temperature samples used is greater than the claimed temperature increase.
4. Glaciers in Greenland have recently been shown to be getting thicker, not thinner. Same with Antarctic ice, which is never mentioned by warming alarmists.
5. The stories of polar bears declining are deceit, according to our government’s own statistics.
6. CO2 is plant food! When the earth was adolescent, there was awfully diminutive oxygen. It was lethal to the minority life forms here (primeval micro-organisms as well as plants). It amplified to today’s levels partially as exhaust from vegetation and, to a magnitude, from a few “visiting” comets
7. Reimbursement of forests happens only where government owns the forest. Clandestine tenure of forests results in recurring growing and cutting. They don’t waste the economic assessment of their own land! Take a glance toward the massive forests in Georgia and Florida, owned by Weyerhaeuser & other lumber companies.
8. Sunspot activity is in a cycle in which it reduces warming radiation from the sun. This is essentially causing a cooling cycle.
9. What about recent record cold temperatures and snow storms?
10. Why is it that the big scares always mean big profits for companies connected to governments? E.g. GE owns NBC, which is scaring us. But GE makes big dollars from sales of generators, nuclear, windmills and solar to governments.
11. Those who want US to completely change our lives are immune. Think this, How about Al Gore making his millions – driving his SUVs, owning several energy inefficient HOMES, that’s plural. He tells us to stop using gas, while he is private-jetting around to give big money speeches?
12. We’re supposed to forget similar false fears. Many of the same companies made big money off the “ozone layer” scam. Remember that one? It has also proven false. But, the media which scared us about it has remained silent. Instead, they come up with a new scary theory.
13. About 7 years ago, the same government-connected scientists and insiders were trying to scare us with the coming ice age. Remember that?
14. Volcanoes and the ocean are by FAR larger sources of CO2 and other “greenhouse” gases. Many, many, many multiples of the amounts we exhaust.
15. NASA was actually caught faking “warming” data. They simply copied September temperatures and submitted the same figures for October. They then claimed October was the hottest it’s been in decades.
ok kid. first answerer, your an idoitic hippie arent you? People are not responsible for Climate change we produce 1/10th of 1% of Greenhouse gasses.
Who is at fault Its called the sun and earth….
We have gone through several ice ages and warming periods.
Al Gore is the greatest con artist and makes a fortune off of these carbon credits his companies sell. This Global warming lie he has created. You notice it’s no longer called Global warming but Global Climate change since it has been cooling over the last 20 years. But global warming ended 10 years ago at the peak of the last solar cycle. And it switched to global cooling 3 years ago when the sun shut down all major activity and went into the coolest mode ever scientifically documented. Up until 1998 the world was receiving a slightly above normal amount of power from the sun causing the planet to warm slightly. Since the sun went into standby mode 3 years ago all the planets are cooling off.
Record cold and record snowfall across North Amerca and the world this year. The melting ice we hear so much about from liberals, hippies and other kooks have almost completely refrozen to the original state. After record 11 foot snowfall last year in the northeast and New Year’s snow in Florida this year as part of a record cold year…..once again the global warming idiots are exposed in their hoax.
” According to the US National Climatic Data Center (NCDC), the average temperature of the global land surface in January 2008 was below the 20th century mean (-0.02°F/-0.01°C) for the first time since 1982. Temperatures were also colder than average across large swathes of central Asia, the Middle East, the western US, western Alaska and south-eastern China.
For the contiguous United States, the average temperature was 30.5°F (-0.83°C) for January, which was 0.3°F (0.2°C) below the 20th century mean and the 49th coolest January on record, based on preliminary data’. SUCK IT HIPPIES!!!
kids, just research these facts. they’re all true. “just a mistake”??! come on! its the government!

global warming as big as prob as people say?
After those emails the surfaced on how they lied and changed data is it a bigger prob as people make it out to be. Now given they might not be the main people but if some people are doing what they were doing then why cant you assume that possibly the majority are also doing the same and work to find what people are doing rightfully and wrongfully. It seems the the actions by alot of these environmentalist seem to be opposite of what they speak, flying on private jets everywhere, using more power for their houses, not driving hybrid cars, among others and not really practicing what they are saying it seems. where are the solar panels on their houses or windmills or w.e. How much is really by people and how much is just a cycle of the earth since earth has had alot hotter heat in the past and cold spells.

Michael asks…
Have you asked your local Republican Candidate why he is sending your job to a foreign country?
Whopper, Indeed: Republicans More Responsible for Green Outsourcing
As part of our “Whoppers of the 2010 Election Cycle” article, we noted how Republicans ran misleading ads accusing their Democratic opponents of creating jobs in China by supporting the stimulus package. Not only did these ads completely twist the facts, but it was disingenuous for Republicans candidates to accuse Democrats of sending jobs to China when GOP members opposed the “Buy American” provisions that would have prevented this offshoring. Here, we discuss how the GOP’s sustained opposition to meaningful climate and energy legislation played a larger role in sending green jobs overseas than a vote for the stimulus.
The ads in question twisted facts from an investigative report that had discovered some stimulus reimbursement funds for renewable energy projects, like wind farms, had gone to foreign-owned companies domestically and abroad, largely because there are few wind turbine manufacturers in America. The latest figures suggest only 0.00037% of the total $700 billion stimulus package, $2.6 million, may have made its way to China; however, the ads claimed that “China gets $2 billion to build windmills,” or that the package “sent nearly $2 billion overseas to create jobs in China.”
Even though the numbers cited were incorrect (the majority of foreign-owned wind developers were European), America’s weak clean energy market makes it inevitable that development funds will make their way to foreign-owned businesses — wind turbine purchases are half of the initial wind farm development costs, and the U.S. has only two homegrown wind turbine manufacturers, General Electric and Clipper Wind. What’s more, both manufacturers still import many parts from overseas factories, and their market share has been consistently slipping, thanks to increasingly vibrant wind industries in Europe and Asia.
