How much energy do i save by running my AC more often on low then running it on high only after work.?
I don’t want to waist electricity however I want to also be sure that in my apartment which gets very hot during the day (at least 95 degrees) isn’t to hot for my cats. I work double shifts and am often away for more then 16 hours at a time.
admin answers:
Running on high only transfers air faster. The fan speed really doesn’t matter. Adjust the temp control to a higher setting to reduce the amount of time it operates during the day.

What is with this mindless flirting at work?
You know, flirting is healthy, and sexy, but sometimes seems to get out of hand. Here’s what happened two days ago:
I had to work on a very important task with this other guy. He’s married with kids. As we were working, one of the girls that works there walks by and says some quick joke indirectly to him. She has a “serious” boyfriend. He then drops all important tasks he was currently doing to talk with her about nothing. For about 15 minutes, he’s flirting with her with friendly (but obviously flirtatious) talk, and she’s egging him on to get more of his attention. Meanwhile, I can’t move on with the task without him, so I had to awkwardly wait for them to stop and get back to work.
This kind of stuff happens all the time at work, and usually the people are married, or in a relationship.
As rude as that is, what really bothers me is, many times I get this vibe that if I don’t participate in flirting with the girl who’s crying for attention, that girl will see it as an insult to her ego. I say this because most times this happens, the girls makes it very clear to ignore me the rest of my time at the company, no matter how polite I am to them.
I like being polite to everyone, but I shouldn’t have to bow down to a girl when ever she wants special male attention. Screw that, I rather save that energy for my wife after work.
Some guys look at you and think your gay if you don’t do it, thinking, “why isn’t he following like a lemming like us? He must gay”.
Whats with all this?
admin answers:
Some people need to get attention from other people so they still feel like they are desirable. I don’t flirt with guys at work and I don’t want them to flirt with me (not that they do). They are all married and the ones that aren’t know there is no point. We come to work to work.

Obama caught lying aging, about cap tax, when can we throw this bum into the streets?
I’ve already explained here on the Forum how the cap-and-trade energy tax works, and would be the biggest tax increase in the history of the country. Now, amazingly, the White House is telling something closer to the truth about this tax hike, admitting that the official budget estimate of $646 billion over 8 years—already a mighty steep price to pay—is far, far lower than the real cost.
The deputy director of the White House National Economic Council, Jason Furman, is giving us a glimpse at the real number, telling Senate staff the energy tax scheme would actually raise “two-to-three times” the budget’s official $646 billion revenue estimate. Dow Jones reports that 5 people at the meeting confirmed the statement—we can be pretty sure he said it.
It make sense, because the budget estimate was only half the official score from the Congressional Budget Office for last year’s Lieberman-Warner bill, even though the Obama version is designed to have much steeper costs because it requires steeper emissions cuts.
If Furman is right that the real tax hike would be two or three times the official budget estimate—and it’s likely still a lowball—that would mean the actual tax hike would run well into the trillions, roughly between $1.3 trillion and $1.9 trillion between fiscal years 2012 and 2019 by Furman’s own estimate.
The White House claims that this massive gusher of new tax revenue would be dedicated to tax relief, but judging by the budget that’s just a PR gimmick. More than 42 percent of the “tax cuts” in the Obama budget—according to its own official estimates—go to people who don’t pay taxes. Call it a handout; call it a welfare check; call it social spending; don’t call it a tax cut, though, because it means the burden of the federal government on people who actually work, save, invest, and build wealth will be higher than ever before.
Remember that these staggering costs of $1.3 to $1.9 trillion are for just the first 8 years of a 40 year program that gets much more expensive over time. This would be the final knock-out blow for a wobbly U.S. economy, and we can only hope that as people learn the facts they’ll oppose it strongly enough to force Congress and the White House back to the drawing board.
DEATH TO TYRANTS AND USURPERS.

This was the individual that stated” I will bankrupt any utility using a coal fired power plant” . No one covered that during the elections.Wind and solar WILL not take up the slack in energy production. We will see black outs and shortages that will set our country back 60 years. All in the name of climate change.

How to Juggle A Soccer ball Better?
Hi, I want to get better at juggling. I have gotten in the 100s before, but that was with luck. I can usually get in the 50-70s fairly easy, but for some reason I can’t get too much higher easily…
Any reasons for this, and any idea on how I can get in the 100s to the 1000s easily?
Any tips on how to possibly do juggling more effieciently, like energy saving or things to work on to improve juggling?
OK, thanks in Advance.

Why the screen saver in my laptop is not working?
Hello. I bought a laptop recently (Latitude DELL D600). The problem is that I did set the screen saver to work after 10 minutes of not using the laptop so many times, but it didn’t work at all. I don’t know at all why this is happening. Is there an interpretation? How can I make the screen saver work on my laptop to save energy or electricity coz I hear music and radio most of the time on it without needing the screen.
admin answers:
Thats weird…hmmmm
right click on desktop, and make sure the screensaver is set to On..it should work..
Maybe your laptop doesn’t have that function, or something in there is disabled..

How do you deal with a “Save energy and penny” OBSESSIVE housemate?
I’m sick and tired of my housemate being EXCESSIVELY going on about saving energy and all. I’m paying her quite big money every month but she wont even allow me to leave MY wireless router ON when I told her it’s supposed to be left on all the time as she said IT MIGHT get caught on fire blah blah. She pulls every plug in the electrical sockets even when I’m charging my phone. I’ve tried to speak to her properly about the wireless router issue but she said “I DONT BELIEVE THAT YOU”RE SUPPOSED TO LEAVE A ROUTER ON ALL THE TIME!!!!!!”. She’s 48 and she’s my colleague at work. Ugh
NOTE:
I didn’t put the AGE to mean anything negative, it was just a part of the overview and description. It doesn’t mean that just because I am not as obsessive as she is does not mean that I do not save energy. As a matter of fact I’ve done every single thing she wanted and I make sure all sockets are unplugged when not in use. I’m not the type who just leaves appliances etc on the plug or what not. But she does not mean to grasp for example how a wireless router will be destroyed if you keep on turning it OFF ON OFF ON OFF ON OFF ON and she’s gone to wayyy beyond just saving energy. She’s become disrespectful of other’s belongings and insensitive.

Your only option is to either get a new room-mate or try to beat her theories using logic, facts, and reason.
Before you opt to spend some time and research on the second option, you really need to figure out if she can be “reached” through logic & reason, otherwise it would be a futile waste of time.
I had a similar issue in college where a room-mate was overly concerned with the cost of lights being left on and would unplug my lamp in my room if I left it on by accident which was very annoying.
Finally one day I was fed up and calculated the cost of leaving this particular light on 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Came out to 48 cents per month. I clearly wrote out the equations so he could follow the math detailing how the worst case scenario was $6 added per year to our bill. I posted the calculations on my door along with 6 dollars and told him to keep the change and not touch my light any more.
You could take a simlar approach. Run some calculations on what each device is costing you. Probably a good idea to check the website I listed below as it has a lot of information to help you as well as a table that calculates the cost for several common items. Sadly a router is not in there, but be sure to check the section on computers as there is great advice.
Additionally you could always get a Kill-a-Watt meter to measure specific items… May be overkill but I pasted a link to Amazon’s offerings below.
My guess is that your Router costs you about $2 in electricity per year and your room-mate is suffering from a bad case of “penny wise, dollar foolish” syndrome. She should probably be targetting better ways to conserve energy such as air drying instead of using electric dryer; running the dishwasher without hi-temp mode; less conservative with thermostat settings; adding insulation to the house; etc, etc
Last idea is to get her the book “The Home Energy Diet” which is a great resource and guide to making smart decisions to saving electricity and what areas are not a big threat (like routers).
Good luck.

Please Explain Energy Saving Mode on my Air conditioner (Window Unit)?
We just bought a small window unit for our bedroom and I do not understand the energy saving mode. For instance, if It set it at 77 degrees it will run until it is apprx 75, then the fan will run for a few minutes and it will shut off. The temperature on the AC then continues to show that it is dropping although it is not 72 degrees in the room. It stays there for a long period of time before turning back on. However, if I shut it off completely and then turn it back on it will show that it is 77- 78 degrees and start the process all over again. Please explain this to me. The AC is brand new…. how does energy saver mode work?

Your question got me curious, so I looked up the answer. The link below explains various AC settings.
