Catchy poster slogan to encourage kids to turn off lights after use?
Hello ~
I am a teacher in a secondary school, and in an effort to try and get the kids to save energy in a green and efficient way I have decided to launch a poster campain, to put near the light switches.
What would be great with these posters woud be a catchy slogan that would stay in people’s heads and encourage them to help save our planet. Does anyone more creative than me have any ideas? I would welcome any responses – no matter how bad you consider yourself as an advertiser! 10 points for the best answer.
Thanks!

Is there a way to make kids get the most of what they learn?
I made it through history, geography, civics and economics just for the sake of it. I read these only from the exam point. Now I feel I want to know it better and if I had actually learnt it before, it would have saved me a lot of time and energy.
Most kids are doing the same now. Is there a way to make them aware and more interested in studies???
I mean the kids in general. The kids who are the future citizens of the nation…
I don’t mean kids as in my kids.

I have 2 children, one is in middle school, when she has a project, I am very hands on. Last year they were studying the Constitution, so living near Washington, D.C. I took her over a weekend to visit the National Archives, we bought pamphlets of the bill of rights from the gift store, and also watched a film on the history of the Constitution, that was being showcased in the N.A. This year for science, she had to disect a frog, so before the project we went and purchased books on the subject and she and I brushed up on the frog’s anatomy, I’m very hands on with her. When disection time came around, I suggested she take her digital camera and have someone film it so that she can continue studying for her exam later.
Parents need to be more involved and actually bring the project into a 3D format for kids to learn. Kids are so into visuals, because of PS2, XBOX, that I believe you need to bring studying into the same type of framework.
She had to read “to kill a mockingbird” I rented the movie and we watched it first, then as she finished each chapter we discussed it together. Having read this book as a child, I knew it would be easier to understand if she saw the film first then read it. The book is not very clear on racism, which is what the curriculum wants the child to understand, so watching the movie helped her understand the hidden meaning of the book.

If you were president/prime minister for a day, what changes would you make?
I would encourage everyone to use green bags when shopping and tell everyone to save energy so our kids/grand kids don’t have to suffer the consequences of climate change. What about you guys?

I need a new career… am I to old to go back to school to become a doctor?
So – I am an entrepreneur – I have a degree in Finance, and work with start up companies. I have a friend who is a Doctor, specifically in pediatric oncology – and when I hear about what she does for a living I first off feel horrible that I am in such a non rewarding (personally rewarding) field and that I am not spending my energy helping people, especially hearing about her saving kids lives every day. I need a career where I will feel great about my contributions, where I help people who can’t help themselves. I don’t want to teach, I don’t want to be in law enforcement or any similar. I need a career where I know I am helping people. I am 29 years old – am I to old to go back to school to become a doctor? How long would this take me? Are there any other careers that you think I would find fulfilling?

Is it wrong to file a petition?
I am trying to file a petition for my school, but it isn’t anything bad. The air conditioner turns off to save and conserve energy, but the kids who have extracurricular activities, and the janitors deserve better. Especially since I live close to the equator. My teacher informed me that I can get in trouble, but isn’t petitions permitted in the United States?
admin answers:
Tell your teacher that I said he/she should be ashamed.
There is nothing wrong with petitioning your school board to change its policies.
The First Amendment of the US Constitution guarantees your right to do so.
Write the petition, get as many signatures as you can – from students, staff, and faculty.
Explain specifically what change you want.
Present the petition to the school board, calmly and politely, at the next school board meeting.
At the meeting, there will be a time for public comment.
That’s when you do it.
Get as many people as you can to attend the meeting with you.
You should know that local newspapers usually cover board meetings.
The meetings are usually long and boring.
This will be unusual and will get media attention.
Your parents should be very proud of you.
Good luck.
