Whats the abbsulote best Home (roof) solar panels For power produced to price?
Like the kind u put on your roof looking for a good balance between cost and power produced while still making it worth the time and effort were defiantly getting some but wanted to know the best preferably by experiance of the answerer. Thanks in advance

Experience of an answerer is not likely to tell you the “best” solar panels. All they will be able to do is give you their overall satisfaction with there system. Their satisfaction will depend on a lot of things, like the opinion of their contractor, the inverter equipment, the location with respect to angle from the sun and presence of shading influences, and their original expectations.
Probably competitively priced panels are very similar in quality. One measure that may be of value would be the watts per sq ft of panel area.
Do a lot of studying, including searching for solar panels in the upper right corner of this page.

Can I install solar panels on roof of the flat above of which I own the freehold?
Does the roof belong to him or is it just the inside? It is a detached house split into 2 flats. I live in the one below but own the freehold of the whole building.

A lot depends on the lease you gave the tenant in the top flat but in any case you would have to apply for Planning Permission from the Local Authority. Look at the deeds to the property, the lease to the tenant and the local Planning Laws

What happens when you combine a green roof with solar panels?
When I meant green roof, I mean vegetation that helps cool down a building during hot days and prevent a heat island effect.

First you need to ensure your roof structure can handle the weight.
Then you need proper drainage for the excess rain water.
Obviously, your solar panels will have a shadow effect on the roof too.
So you need enough distance for the sunlight to get to vegetation.

How do you attach solar panels to the roof without increasing the chances for a roof leak?
How are the panels attached? And what kind of roof is it easier to attach them to? If you have an asphalt roof, do they just drive the fastener into the roof? If you have a metal roof, are there clips that can attach the panels so that no hole has to be made?

…………..pull old shingles where the mounting brackets would go counter flash it ,re-shingle it .and seal it. Its always done this way for anything installed on the roof …unless its tile or something.

i live in sunny southern california and i heard that installing solar panels on your roof can fully power your home on a summer day! is this true? how much would it cost on average? my home is a two story home in the suburbs, lol what are the pros and cons of doing this?

No they are not worth it.I had some installed just to run my pool and I would have to live to be 200 years old to break even.

Solar panels for electricity are a bit of a waste of time in this part of the country, allowing for the initial expense of the installation, the cost of maintenance and replacment of the batteries between three to five years will cost more than paying a standard supplier.
As for water, some useful gains can be had, i.e. It will take the chill off the incoming water and so reduce your base energy supply costs, but not to any great extent.
Roll on global warming when these systems will become far more viable at these lattitudes.

Solar Panels and Roof Repair?
There are lots of articles now on adding solar panels to your roof. Have not seen any discussion on the problems the panels will create when roof repairs are required. The panels will probably have to come down while repairs are done. I doubt roofers can do that. Sounds like a lot of money to be paid out in the future, added on to the already very expensive new roof cost.

The technology is still far from the point where I would be comfortable buying. Your concern is valid, major job to re-roof or repair with the panels up there. The cost recovery of paying for the panels should be looked at with a critical eye. Minimum 12 to 15 years. Will you be in the house that long? Your incentive should be for the environment, not the cost savings.
