Maria asks…
a mole of pennies stacked in from end would reach here to the moon and back how many times?
admin answers:
Height of penny: .2 cm
Distance from earth to sun: 1.5 x 10^16 centimeters
.2cm x 6.022×10^23= 1.2044×10^23 centimeters
(1.2044 x 10^23) / (1.5 x 10^16) = 8 029 333.3 times to the sun
80329333.3 / 2= 4 014 666.65 times to the sun from earth and back
Final Answer: 4,014,666.65

Jenny asks…
how would you find the mass (in kilograms) of a mole of pennies?
for chem we were told to find the mass, in kilograms, of a mole of pennies.
can anybody explain to me how to get the answer?
the answer would be nice to?
thank you (:
admin answers:
Find the weight of a penny, that will give you the molar mass of a penny. Then convert grams to kilograms (1000g=1kg). This problem is kind of strange because a penny isn’t an element and I suppose that each penny weighs a little different…

Helen asks…
how to find the answer to a mole of pennies stacked end to end would reach the sun and back how many times?
admin answers:
According to my calculations 6.43807683 × 10^10 times the distance to the sun. How accurate this is, who knows.
I took the thickness of a penny to be 1.598 mm, 1 mole to be 6.02214×10^23 and the distance from earth to sun to be 149476000 Km

Sharon asks…
how many times could a mole of pennies stack up from here 2 the sun and back?
admin answers:
If the average penny is 2mm think:
1 mole of pennies = 6.022 x 10^23 pennies. Multiply by 2 = 1.2044 x 10^24 mm of pennies, or 1.2044 x 10^18 km of pennies. (1,204,400,000,000,000,000 km)
The sun is 150 million km from earth. (150,000,000 km)
1,204,400,000,000,000,000 km / 150,000,000 km = 8029333333 times.
If we round that, we get about 8,030,000,000. So, that’s a one way trip. If we divide that by 2, we get about 4,015,000,000
So it would go from earth to the sun and back about 4 million times.

Richard asks…
“A mole of pennies stacked end to end would reach from here to the sun and beck how many times?”?
admin answers:
6.022 x 1023 pennies…however many times that reaches 93,000,000 miles away (which is about the distance to the sun from earth), considering that a penny is 1.43 mm thick…i guess you’d have to convert miles to moles and somehow consider the 1.43 mm in your equation…:-$…well, thats your answer! Have fun solving! Lol

Mandy asks…
If the average penny is 2mm thick, how far toward the sun would a 1 mole stack of pennies reach?
I need an answer to this question by 9pm tonight!!!!!!!
admin answers:
1 mole= 6.022 x 10^23
so simply multiply 2 times 6.022 x 10^23
1.2044 x 10^24 mm
1.2044 x 10^23 cm
1.2044 x 10^22 meters
(pick an answer, all are the same, in different units)

Donald asks…
if 1 mole of pennies was split equally among every person on earth, how many pennies would each person receive
admin answers:
One mole of pennies is Avagadro’s Number of pennies, or 6.02214199 * 10^23 pennies. The human population is slightly over 6 billion people, or slightly over 6 * 10^9. Let’s call it 6.02214199 * 10^9 just for fun.
So, divide the number of pennies by the number of people and you get 10^14 pennies per person.
(Which, to hear the government whine, is how many pennies they’ve had to mint that no one actually wants to use. Yet, when did you ever see someone refuse his change if it included pennies? Oh sure, some put them in the “Leave a penny…” things, but they use them too.)

Betty asks…
if i had a mole of pennies, how much money would that be? please help!?
please explain too how to get the answer! thanks =)
if this helps:
mass of penny: 2.5 grams
composition: 97.5% zinc/ 2.5% copper
admin answers:
A mole of something thats is multiplied by 10^23 so, .01 *10^23 or 100000000000000000000000 or
1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.00 dollars.
